Simply awful, in my opinion. Really disappointed with this item. Thought it would be a much better build. Might as well just photo your notes and send them, rather than use this item.

Not just a writing pad - it’s a potential versatile volume for writers who still enjoy freedom from word processors or typewriters

What a great idea.
Scribble, draw, photo scan, send and save - with no paper involved.
Just used it to help with my Grandson's homework.
Thought it was very innovative and impressive.
He just accepted it as another way to present his homework.

The Rocketbook is an option to record your written words and drawings into an easy way to transfer to your computer.
You have to download their program onto your mobile phone or tablet, but the link up becomes automatic and is easy to accomplish.
Each page has a QR that will put your work in correct order on the saved document, which will be in pdf format.
Comes with lined pages, but you can also download other types, including dotted graph paper and music staves.
As the pages of this book (there is an A5 version available too) are erasable, you could indeed have an ever lasting book. Perhaps over the course of time the pages will become damaged or degrade, but this is perhaps a helpful way to reduce paper usage. Until you print out the downloaded sheets, at least.
You do have to use specific writing items and the preferred ones are Pilot Frixxion. You can get these online from various places, or try a high street newsagents who may at times ave them on offer. Not a cheap pen, but refills might also be cheaper, if you can find them.
