I bought this drive as I wanted a USB C connector not USB A and then have to use an adapter that you'd forget or lose.

For a little over £10, I wasn't expecting to be blown away but the write speeds are far slower than I expected. After around 300MB of speedy writing (almost certainly the cache limit) the speed drops to the floor and stays there. You're lucky to get a sustained 5MB/s. It even has the temerity to get warmer than you'd like whilst doing it!

Once you've got your files on there the read speeds are a very sprightly 95MB/s which is far more than I ever expected.

I just wish I could trade some of the excess read speed for even a doubling of the write speed.

The overall construction is fine and whilst I'd prefer a way to stow the cap whilst it's not connected so you don't immediately lose it, whilst it's protecting the connector it's a nice tight fit that won't come off accidentally.

TL;DR: As long as you know that this is the kind of drive you copy big jobs to overnight you'll be fine. If you want blistering fast or even average write speeds, look elsewhere.
